California Dreaming On Such A Winter's Day

A beautiful, foggy, and much warmer morning at Crissy Field in San Francisco, California.

A Great Blue Heron marched right past me at Crissy Field on another day, and didn't seem to mind my camera a bit.

Portrait of Artist Patrick Saunders Plein Air Painting

I am posting this picture because it makes me feel warmer just looking at it. I photographed artist Patrick Saunders as he was concentrating on his painting for the Stems Plein Air event last year. I am so ready for shorts weather!

A Throw Back Thursday Image To A Warmer Day

I photographed one of the legendary Mermaid Parades on the Coney Island Boardwalk while Patrick and I lived in Brooklyn, New York. It was hilarious - I had so much fun - so many great moments and scenes to capture. I grew up in the Midwest, and there are so many things I love about this part of the country, but one thing I do appreciate about both the east and west coasts - people are more free to be different, to do the unexpected, to flaunt their uniqueness, to fly their so-called freak flags higher and more openly. You almost can't shock a New Yorker or a San Franciscan. There is much more of a live and let live philosophy, socially speaking, in such places, something the Midwest could use a big dose of. I myself would never feel comfortable strutting half naked down the Coney Island Boardwalk, but if a bunch of people do, and they end up making a parade out of it, more power to them.

Portrait of Boulder Meers

This gorgeous girl was the highlight of a recent commercial shoot that Patrick and I just completed. She charmed us out of our lunch fries, and then schooled us for trying to violate her privacy by putting a GoPro on her by promptly lying down hard on it, turning it off, while she took a long siesta. Love this girl!

Throw Back Thursday Memories Of A Warmer Day

The Saunders family spent many a happy day at Fort Funston Dog Beach when we lived in San Francisco. It's a wonderful place to be, and I think Barney and Betty were happier there than anywhere else we've ever lived/visited.

Barney and Betty, exhausted after a game of fetch.

Barney got all the credit for being an amazing athlete, but Betty was even faster than he was back in the day. She just knew when to quit, unlike her brother, who can now barely walk because of it. Hard to believe they are almost 15 years old now.

Patrick mugging for the camera with Betty. We had to climb up and down these incredible stairs to get to the beach.

Maya Yoga Instructor John Moran

Some of my favorites of super bendy yogi John Moran from a recent photo shoot Patrick Saunders and I did of new instructors at Maya Yoga.
