Saunders Fine Arts POTD - Guffie the Scottish Highlands Terrier

My new favorite winter neighbor.

Meet Guffie, named for the plot device. He definitely lives up to his name, and don't even think about trying to get that frisbee away from him, even to throw it for him. - Kimberly.

Saunders Fine Arts POTD - View of the Leadenhall Building and 20 Fenchurch Street from the River Thames, London, England

Sunset on the old and the new along the River Thames at Southwark Bridge.

The “Cheesegrater” (Leadenhall Building) in the middle, and the “Walkie-Talkie” (20 Fenchurch Street), to the right in London. The “Gherkin” (30 St Mary Axe) is hidden behind the “Cheesegrater” in this shot.

We wonder what nickname the new tower being built on the left will end up with.

Saunders Fine Arts POTD - Saint James's Hotel and Club Courtyard, London, England

The courtyard of the historic St James's Hotel and Club.

We stumbled onto this beautiful space on our way back to our hotel from Buckingham Palace. A gorgeous, peaceful little oasis that can make you forget you're in the middle of London.

Saunders Fine Arts POTD - Saint James's Palace and Park, London, England

Much of the city of London feels like a giant, elaborate amusement park built around the monarchy. The scale of tourism generated by the royal family is overwhelming. It's like Disneyworld for people who would never go to Disneyworld. - Kimberly

Saunders Fine Arts POTD - The Red Lion Westminster - London, England

The Red Lion.

This site in Westminster has been a tavern of some kind since the Middle Ages, and a watering hole for politicos, due to its proximity to Downing Street and the UK Parliament. Everyone from Charles Dickens to Sir Winston Churchill is said to have tossed back a drink here.

It's mainly a tourist destination now, but with its classic pub decor and cozy feel, The Red Lion is a good place to wash down your first steak and ale pie with a decent beer.
