We finally made it to the Amon Carter Museum of American Art this weekend, and I'm so glad we did, because this artwork is the best thing I've seen in a museum in a long time.
My
photograph, which is the view from the ground floor looking up to the
ceiling of the museum's atrium, just doesn't even begin to do this large
piece justice. It's like a Rothko - you have to see it in person to
really appreciate it. I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to
experience it.
More
than 80 miles of thread. 80 MILES. It just glows, and even moves a bit
as the air flow of the museum passes through it. Looking at it, you can
imagine how different it looks at various times of day, depending on the
light filtering through it from the atrium windows above. - Kimberly
